Welcome to the world of slot racing. If you've ever raced your toy cars on a plastic track in your living room whilst watching motor racing on T.V. and wondering if there was something more, here it is!
Racing against three other people aound a 32metre track, using state of the art equipment at break neck speed sounds fun, doesn't it?
This is what slot racing is all about! Having fun while racing cars against friends and family without risk of injury. Real racing, not using a games console, on a real track competing against other people.
Slotracing in the UK has traditionally been divided between two forms: One form are the derivatives of what most people think of a 'Scalex' car racing. These cars are largely plastic in construction and run on hard rubber tyres. However, there is another side of the sport which has focussed more on the engineering and performance aspect of the cars, racing with cars with real top speeds of over 110kph!
Leicester Electric Slotcar Club is a new venture located in the centre of Leicester where we aim to provide racing that will appeal to everyone.
In order to do this, as well as having one of the most state of the art tracks in the UK, the cars and the controllers needed to run have been provided enabling complete newcomers to come into the sport and enjoy the racing.
NAME
We race on Friday evenings from 7pm to 10pm. All kit is provided. Fees are £4.00 per night for adults and £2.00 for U18s. All U18s will require an adult to be present. The cost for one adult and one junior to race will be £5.00.
We have put in place a number of Covid-19 safety measures including screens between the drivers as well as having hand sanitiser, masks and gloves available. Temperatures will be checked and the room is well ventilated. If you want to come down contact us first please so we can expect your attendance.
The slot car club is located in the old snooker room at the Leicester Electricity Cricket Club in the heart of Leicester. This used to be the original pavillion for the county cricket club and over the last few years it has been extensively refurbished.
The slot car club is delighted to be involved in this and is looking forward to contributing to its presence in the local community.
One of the benefits of this is that there is an open bar, along with a main lounge available which also has Sky Sports and a pool table for use by its members.
